I wonder whether TV
viewers and Zoheb Hassan's fans have realized that he has (finally?)
begun acting as well. A new music album is also to be released soon?
I have seen a billboard in Clifton announcing this new album. A
serial called Kismet went on air (Geo) on Sunday 21st May
2006. And Zoheb Hassan was an interesting surprise. A pleasant
presence, though one hopes that the camera eye will do a far better
job with his close-ups!!
But this alone is
not the entire story. His wife Gina Hassan, an amateur short story
writer and playwright has written the story of Kismet. This is
significant news, and one has to wait and see what happens in the
weeks ahead. I am presuming that at least the KESC will not render
futile our attempts to see this episode every Sunday. For in the
weeks ahead the story will build up interest, as each episode
unfolds, not just the story of two brothers (enacted by Zoheb Hassan
and Aijaz Aslam) who apparently have adjustment(?) problems. And
each episode will have a song rendered by Zoheb Hassan. So evidently
he has chosen to strike hard. How much success comes with the
serial, only the coming weeks will tell.
So while one waits
to see the outcome of this Zoheb and Gina efforts, I take this
opportunity to observe that it was rather annoying (to put in
mildly) to have those commercial breaks. I am told that this is what
happens with popular programs. I do not believe that an end can be
put to these commercial breaks, as they bring the revenue to the
channels, engaged in a furious, raging competition. But it sure does
not just delay the whole process of watching an episode, but it also
diminishes the emotional and psychological impact of the play
(episode). Some commercial can in fact upset the viewer, because of
their mediocrity. Many commercials are so disappointing, I may add
in passing. One could return to this theme later, sometime.
