An album by Zoheb Hassan

 Zoheb Hassan is known as the pioneer of Pop Music in the sub-continent. He along with his sister Nazia Hassan came up with a completely new sound which laid the foundation for a new genre of music. In the early 80s the duo came up with their first multi platinum album 'Disco Deewane' which created history and swept the entire sub-continent with a hitherto unknown frenzy. The two teenagers became the biggest selling pop act and sold over 35 million albums worldwide just of their first effort. They were the first Pakistanis to sing for an entire Indian film soundtrack; the film called Star became a raging hit on both sides of the border. It now seemed that whatever they touched turned to gold and Zoheb and Nazia were the new heroes and role models for the youth. What followed was a string of super hit albums; Young Tarang, Hotline and Camera Camera. Their songs became anthems for the young and old alike and a new phenomenon was introduced and it was the first time that a pop act became famous before they even appeared on television. Zoheb and Nazia seemed way ahead of the market and while artists of that day were concentrating on traditional television performances, the duo introduced the first music videos the sub -continent had ever seen. Zoheb and Nazia's movie star looks added to their appeal and the duo became the undisputed King and Queen of sub-continental pop music for a good two decades. Even today their music sells like before and still sounds fresh and timeless. Zoheb was responsible for composing the ever green melodies that are still popular today. In most cases the duo wrote their own lyrics. They collaborated with Biddu during the initial years, but Zoheb soon blossomed into a composer and musician of a certain caliber and the years to come saw a musically prolific Zoheb. The hiatus from music came when Nazia fell ill and Zoheb distanced himself from music. After her death came a period when Zoheb disappeared from the scene altogether. Now after the insistence of his fans all over the world he has come up with a new album titled KISMET. It is a culmination of his experiences and efforts of the past few years. The album is dedicated to the memory of his sister Nazia Hassan. The melodies bear the unmistakable Zoheb signature and out of the 12 unforgettable tracks on the album KISMET, 8 are featured in a drama serial of the same name. Zoheb also acts in the serial, so that is another first for him. The drama serial episodes and initial music videos aired have already received rave reviews and Zoheb has once again re-affirmed his position as a world class artist.
